I EXPERIENCED OVER 40 'PERI' SYMPTOMS IN 16 MONTHS! IS THAT TOO MUCH?

To say that my life has changed drastically in the last 16 months would be the understatement of the century.  For me though, the most significant thing is that I knew no one who shared my experience with perimenopause.  My mother told me that she never knew the term as she went straight into menopause... and the only symptom she experienced were hot flashes.

My experience... very different!

This is just a list of what I can recall - no explanation!

  1. I’ve always had heavy and 7 day long periods since I was 12 yrs old. But ever since I turned 40, I have excruciating pain for the first 3 days like someone using a butcher knife and stabbing me on the left and right side of my belly. I take heavy pain killers for those 3 days. The pain is unbearable - I drive myself to the ER 3x in the past. They found 3 quarter size fibroids back in 2021 and they haven’t grown since. The pain and extra heavy bleeding is coming from being diagnosed with •polyp• It’s sitting on the side of my uterus. My Obgyn delayed me doing a hysterectomy surgery for 3 years, she offered me several different methods which I declined, until last year she finally say OH NO let’s do this surgery. Truthfully, I have been delaying it, not because I love pain, but I’m scared of being pushed into full menopause - which hmm eventually I’ll get there one day, and I’m SCARED to do surgery, but this pain each month- the bloating is excessive where I look like I’m 6-7 months pregnant, my weight goes up and down. The moment I feel like I’m losing weight, there comes that witch again for 7 long days. So I seriously plan to do the surgery this year, I spend way too much money on pads and panties, and too old to be messing up my sheets, my pants, even my car while driving- that’s how heavy it gets. I do from time to time wake up and my neck and shirt is soaking wet and the AC and fan is on - so I have baby hot flashes. Hopefully after this surgery, my body will be Free. I can’t think of anything else that’s been happening to me. I’m seriously going to start my health journey again - plant base meals, exercise, good supplements, along with drinking lots of water and my daily skincare regime..
Sancia, thanks for this space where we can all discuss and share what’s going on with our bodies individually. I have been following IG pages that talk about peri-menopause and menopause since I learn the word peri menopause in a series I watched about 5 years ago, but I never shared it to my stories - didn’t want uneducated ppl on the matter to call me old.

    1. So my dear Sarah, what if we're old... we're fine, hot, sexy, experienced and more appealing than we've ever been in our lives!

Now that we've established that, your symptoms don't really hit the peri nail but I recall about 12 years ago, I had some wicked periods, some like what you described. I recall being on a flight from Miami to Kingston and I had to sit on my side because I was bleeding so hard. I honestly like you am scared of the surgery idea. Personally I would explore some more before I do it but I'm no medical expert.

Glad to have you here friend and thanks for sharing :)
